Salone delMobile Milano 2017
The 2017 edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile was held between the dates 04-09 April in Milan, Italy. Participating from Bursa, Turkey, it was MOBİ’s third time in the exhibition. As always, designer A. Raşit Karaaslan prepared a new collection for the fair and it was showcased in the MOBİ stand in Pavillion 6, Stand C48. Designing with oriental sensibilities within a modern aesthetic, this year, the designer chose to combine walnut with enchanting patterns and plush luxurious fabrics from Turkey.
One of this year’s most captivating products, Casablanca, is a modular sofa system with basic units such as single seating elements, corners, chaise longues and integral coffee tables. These modules can be combined to create customized seating and tailored to suit different life styles. The unique latticework that decorates the back of this sofa system lends it an exotic look, hence the name Casablanca. The sofa and its loose cushions are upholstered in opulent velvet in vibrant spice colors, woven exclusively for MOBİ.
Accompanying Casablanca is a new single lounge chair called Fez, which has a wooden shell that hugs its back. This shell features the same delicate latticework as Casablanca, but this time on a curved surface, and thereby accentuates the play of light and shadow. The exclusive velvet fabric gives it a sophisticated finish.
This year’s largest piece is Ritmo, which is a modular wall system that can be customized endlessly to create libraries, media and storage units. The basic unit ofRitmo is a partitioned box that can be stacked or used side by side. Wooden or glass doors in different sizes can be used to complement and transform the units. Modern, simple and versatile, Ritmo adds the element of contemporary sophistication to any living space.
Last but definitely not the least, Aria sideboard and drinks cabinet were 2017’s most popular dining room items. Aria showcases the beauty of natural wood. Its elegantly curved pieces are finished on all sides, and their compact shape allows them to complement any space. Aria pieces were displayed with the new and bold Fuji dining table and Rita chairs, both of which are odes to natural walnut. The simplified geometry and the natural matt finishes of this year’s pieces put the emphasis on nature’s rich colors and patterns.
